Indiana Voter ID Law Unconstitutional
Sept. 17, 2009
An Indiana Court of Appeals held the state's voter identification requirement unconstitutional today. A three-judge panel of the court unanimously held that law violates the state constitution's Equal Privileges and Immunities clause. More.

MA Senate Vacancy Bill Passes

The Massachusetts Senate today passed HB 656, allowing the governor to appoint a temporary successor to fill the late Senator Edward Kennedy's vacant seat in the U.S. Senate until a special election is held on January 19. It is expected that the governor will sign the bill tomorrow.

2009 Ballot Measure Results
Nov. 4, 2009
Voters approved 21 of the 26 measures on statewide ballots yesterday. There were few surprises, with Maine becoming the 30th state to say no to same-sex marriage, and all bond measures on the ballot passing. One unexpected result was the vote on casino gambling in Ohio. This was the fifth time since 1990 voters have considered casino gambling there, and for the first time, they voted yes. More.
